Assigning GBIC port in 6509 to single VLAN

Hello!

We have Cisco 6509 MLS on our Network and we created

more than 20 Vlan's on it . I want to connect one of server which has GBIC NIC directly on 6509 and assign that GBIC port to particular Vlan. When I configure the port in offline , it shows port is assigned to particular Vlan in the status , as soon as I connect the server , port shows the Trunk status and user's can't able to reach the server . FYI, all the ports in 6509 were configured for ISL trunking to pass through all Vlan's . Now I would like remove Trunking on that particular port (2/8 i.e mod/port) and asiign this pport to particular Vlan.

Pls let me know the command.

Thanks

Raju.

Since this is a host port, you can turn of trunking and channeling using the macro command "set port host x / y ". This command also enables portfast on the specified port

on the particular port use the following command to turn off trunking

set trunk mod/port off

Note that the default is set trunk auto negotiote. Usually these would be sufficient as the switchport would negotiate with the NIC card to disable trunking

Dear Raju,

Issue the command as

enable> clear trunk 2/8

enable > set valn 2/8
