For Gig Ethernet on Catalyst 6500, those ports speed are 1000 and full duplex. When we try to config the SUN server's NIC port to hard code full duplex cause the port failure. The same for HP server. But if we change the NIC seting back to auto negotiate, everything working fine. Any reason why this happen?

I have exactly the same problem with a CAT5500 connecting to certain UNIX boxes running Solaris. I read that it is an interoperability problem between Cisco and Sun. As far as I am aware, there is no bug fix for this.
