AUX back-to-back failed

Dear Sir!

I'm trying to use aux back-to-back in my home lab how configuration below described with rolloved cable:

http://cisco.com/warp/public/793/access_dial/auxback.html

But in my case (R1/R2) its not work:

R1# sh line aux 0

...........................

Modem hardware state: noCTS DSR* DTR noRTS

............................

and

R2# sh line aux 0

...........................

Modem hardware state: noCTS DSR* DTR noRTS

............................

What can I do?

Best regards,

Nick

Re: AUX back-to-back failed

What platforms are you trying to connect back-2-back on the Aux port....if the config on both the routers is correct then it could be a cable pinout issue.

Thanks, Mak.

Re: AUX back-to-back failed

Since DSR and DTR is up (DSR* and DTR) that means router is talking to the other side ports over the line AUX. There is noCTS and noRTS (Flow Control) may be because of no data flowing at this point. Ideally both of them should be up too.

Now we need to see the output of command "sh line aux 0" from both the sides to see status of the line. So pl. post that here for both the routers. Also you can visit "Troubleshooting" section on the same url, which you are refering to, fore more troubleshooting.
