I have 2600 router and HP LC2000 server in remote site. My server support management through serial port. I can connect management port to modem or by null-modem cable directly to pc. Can I use 2600 router and aux port instead of pc and connect it to management port on my server? If yes how to emulate terminal client like HyperTerminal in this architecture?
I also suspect that reverse telnet might work just fine. I have never personally done this from an aux port to anything but a modem using AT command set but I can't see why it couldn't be made to work. I have used third-party devices to reverse telnet into Cisco console ports and that worked great.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
