Backing up and interface

This may be beyond the scope of this board, but has anybody used the Net::Telnet::Cisco module for Linux to automate backing up a down line? Until Cisco implements a fail over for ethernet interfaces that go down without physically going down, I'm stuck trying to figure this out. If anyone has this working, how are you doing it?

Thanks,

Carl Agren

Re: Backing up and interface

I don't have a comment on the Linux tool, but you may look at HSRP for LAN/LAN backup, or Dialer Watch for WAN/LAN backup. Neither rely on the physical link going down.
