Is it possible to copy the startup-config file to nvram under a different name to have as a backup?
I will be updating a config on a router, and if I lose connectivity to it, I want to be able to tell a non-tech in a few simple lines to restore the start-up config. (ie copy backup-config startup-config)
Is this possible?
Thanks,
Joe

I have copied config (startup or running) to flash to create a backup copy. This should do what you need.

So If I do a copy startup-config backup-config, then put in a new startup-config, reload and my router stays down, I can have someone at site issue a copy backup-config startup-config and this will restore the original config with no issues?

I found a router with the same IOS to test this out and it worked. Thanks!
