Re: Backup of Software image, Cisco 3550

On the 3550, the IOS image is stored in a directory containing the required files. If you look carefully at your post, you will see: 8 drwx preceding the filename. The d means this is indeed a directory.

The tftp command should be:

copy flash:c3550-i9q3l2-mz.121-20.EA1a/c3550-i9q3l2-mz.121-20.EA1a.bin tftp

Re: Backup of Software image, Cisco 3550

As suggested in my previous post please use the " archieve upload-sw command ". Please see the usage in the command refrence. It will work.

Re: Backup of Software image, Cisco 3550

I assume that you get this error while the tftp destination directory does not exist or does not have the proper file rights.

You may also want to check the EXACT filename of the source file.

I think that Amit's proposed solution is the better approach altough I am certain that it must be possible to copy any file from your device to a tftpserver in the way that I suggested.

Leo

Re: Backup of Software image, Cisco 3550

Hi,

That will not work I guess. That is a directory and you cannot copy it using that command.

Try archive upload-sw tftp:[[//location]/directory]/image-name.tar

This will work for sure. I am using the same on my switches.

Please see the command refrence for more :
