We have an ATM Connection terminated by LS1010. It is configured a PVC 15/211 to a Cisco7500 behind the LS1010. Can we configure a Backup PVC with the same VPI/VCI to another interface on the LS1010 in case when the Router is crashed? If not, could you give us an option to resolve this problem?
We do not want to use a second PVC on the ATM Cloud.

The VPI/VCI pair is locally significant. So, you can have the same VPI/VCI values on different interfaces. Though, you can have 15/211 on interface atm0/0/0 and atm0/0/1 for example but you will have to configure 2 different PVCs if the main and backup PVC arrives on the same interface.
For example:
int atm 4/1/0
atm pvc 0 100 int atm 4/1/1 0 100
atm pvc 0 101 int atm 4/1/2 0 100
0/100 exists on 2 different interfaces but, as both PVCs are arriving on the same interface (atm4/1/0), they must have different VPI/VCI values on that interface.
Hence, eventhough you have 0/100 on 2 different interfaces, they are in fact 2 different PVCs. Hence, you cannot make a switchover from one to another one. The only solution is to have 2 PVCs configured on the remote device and this device will use them both.

Hello,
thank you for your answer.
And if I configure Soft VC´s on the LS1010 with different ATM Endpoint
Adresses, but the same VPI/VCI?
