Bad ports after 2924-XL IOS upgrade

We have encountered a few bad ports after upgrading from 12.0(5.2)XU to 12.0(5.3)WC(1). The ports fail POST. There does not seem to be any similarities between the bad ports in respect to port config. or end device. We have removed the new image and reloaded the old image, with no config. but the ports still fail POST. Any insight on this problem would be appreciated.

If post fails, it normally indicates bad hardware. Do a "show post" to confirm this and open a TAC case for getting a RMA

A POST test internally checks the ports for faults. This only happens on reboot and may have been existent for a while previous to the last reboot.

You will need to replace the switch as the fail ports will not work.
