Bandwidth restriction over t1

I have a 2500 series and a 1720 router, I want to limit my customer to 256kpbs, I have tried using the timeslots command on ser0 of the 2500 router, but when I do I can no longer reach the 1720 router over ip, do you need to set timeslots on both routers or did I just screw up the timeslots command?

well you can set the clock rate of serial interfaces on both the routers to 256 K.

Timeslots command is used to match the interface bandwidth with the telco bandwidth and should also consequently match the remote router config. Any variation will cause what you have seen. No connectivity. If you want to limit bandwidth use QoS. I use CAR (Committed Access Rate) in many instances.

Look up CAR or "rate-limit" command on the web site. Pay attention to the direction of the traffic when applying the rule.
