Beginner to VLAN Pl Help

Hi Friends,

I am asked to create VLANs on L2 Switches 2950 Model. IOn a Test Switch Ientered into interface mode and given the below Command on one of the ports.

The test Switch is Uplinked to our live Network from a Series of Switches which are not in VLANs.

Switch2(config-if)#switchport access vlan 10

I attached a workstation to VLAN 10 port. I am not able to ping my Network.

on Other Ports of the test Switch I am able to Ping.

I also created a secondary interface on My Router Running Eth Port and kept the WOrkstation in the same subnet of the secondary interface created n the Router. My gateway entry on W/S is also Correct. I am missing some thing I beleive. Can any one pl. help me.

Have you created VLAN 10 in the VLAN database?

Also are you trunking on the port which connects to your router which does inter VLAN routing?
