BGP & Floating Static Problem

I am using BGP for my main routes and floating static over ISDN as backup.

When my BGP peers goes down, floating static kicks in and that works fine.

But I discovered that there were times when the BGP re-establishes, the floating static remains in the routing table. BGP should be preferred over the floating static I have set the static AD to 200 while BGP remains at default.

Has anyone encountered this before?

Are you running IBGP or EBGP. if its ibgp, IBGP has admin distance of 200, so try setting the static route AD to greater than 200. (<255)

I am running eBGP, the AD at a default of 20.

This is probably a timing issue; BGP won't over-write the static in the routing table, so this is correct behaviour. This is because BGP is actually, probably, using this static as the source of the entry in the local BGP table, so overwriting it would destroy the entry, and wind up in a churn situation.
