You dont need both BGP and Multilink PPP to take care of load balancing.

THe physical IP assigned for the wan link, needs to be configured on the Multilink virtual interface (interface multilink 1). The 8 E1 interfaces will be part of this multilink bundle group. So all you have left is 1 virtual multilink interface with 8 E1 links as members. So all you need to do is route the packets via this interface, and PPP Multilink will take care of link layer load balancing.

If you want to run BGP for routing reasons, you may do so, but you dont need any other special configurations in BGP to do load balancing.

Also make sure the ISP end also configures a MPPP bundle at their end.

Hope that helps!
