BGP Loopback Address

Is it neccessary to add a static route for Loopback address if you like advertise your loopback address as update source. Thanks

Hi.

You don't have to advertise your loopbacks in order to use one of them as source for BGP packets. The other peer somehow has to know how to reach your loopback. The other peer can learn your loopback via a routing protocol or with a static route that is configured on its side. Your router must also know how to reach the other peer's loopback if it is using the loopback as source.
