BGP MED removal

Hi all,

I've just been going through the latest BGP draft, draft-ietf-idr-bgp4-23.txt, and in particular, section 9.1.2.2 (c). It talks about MULTI_EXIT_DISC attribute removal before re-advertisement into IBGP.

Does anyone have any info on how that is done on Cisco routers i.e. when is the MED removed (if at all) and how that enters into the Decision Process ?

Cheers,

Paresh.

Re: BGP MED removal

According to the draft, the MED removal before forwarding to an iBGP neighbor is optional. The current Cisco IOS implementation only removes the MED received from a neighbor AS when advertising to another AS.

Hope this helps,
