Does anyone know the memory requirements for BGP on a 7507?

Re: BGP on 7507

Depends entirely on # of routes and peers & communities you plan on having. Provide this information and someone can give you a memory requirement.

Hope this helps you,

Re: BGP on 7507

With a 7500 /w RSP4 running 12.1(14) Mainline here is the breakdown of routes you could have with 256Mb of DRAM and 64 Mb below this.

Paths vs Routes ratios 7500 - RSP4 - 121(14) - 256 Total Memory -

1 5 10 15 20

246666 190000 148333 120333 100666

With 64 Total Memory

1 5 10 15 20

35466 27200 21333 17333 14533

Read this as 246666 routes with 1 path, 190K routes with 5 paths.. etc.

Basically BGP can be a hog when you are dealing with a full routing table. It is always best to max not only RSP memory but also memory on your VIP line cards as well for distributed operations.

Hope this helps,

Re: BGP on 7507

Kendall,

Where can i found similar information (Number of Routes vs. path) for the 3662 routers. Is it recomended to have full Ingternet routing on 3662 with full memories??

Thanks
