IS it possible to extend the BGP over GRE. I have a network running IPSEC with Dead Peer detection as the fail over peer.
The Problem with DPD is whenever there is a failure the tunnel fallsback to the next peer but when the link comes back the peer doesn't fallback. A manual clearing of the SA's is required for the peer.
So we have thought of exending the BGP over GRE & run encryption & let the BGP take the responsibilty of Fallback rather than IPSEC
I have attached the existing and the proposed diagram.
Let me know what all configurations would be required to achieve this.
if any other information is required i would be happy to provide that.
