binding with a dialer profile is not working in 12.2.

Hello,

I am using an 1721 to connection to a central router. When I try to establish an no call is made. A packet is routed to the dialer interface and mark as interesting traffic but I think the router cannot bind the dialer to a physical interface.

Debug ip packet tells me about an encapsulation failure.

I use a 1721 with an IP only 12.2(4).YH or 12.2(8).T4 release. When I use a 1721 with an IP/adsl/vpn/fw/ids 12.2 (8).T4 release the same configuration is working.

Legacy DOD is working normally.

Has anyone heard from this problem? Do I oversee something?

I put some additional information below.

Thanks.

Re: binding with a dialer profile is not working in 12.2.

You seem to be running into CSCdv86589 "DDR(Dialer Profile) over ISDN BRI not working" filed on the 1700 platform, this was filed during internal testing.

Please try the latest 12.2T image & if the problem is still seen then I will file a new bug.

Thanks, Mak.

The dialer binds to the physical interface based on dialer pool commands, Can you please provide the following debug outputs:

deb dialer / deb dialer detailed / deb isdn q931/ deb ppp nego, also ensure that the isdn status is ok before generating the call.

sh ip route 192.168.22.1

Thanks, Mak.

Re: binding with a dialer profile is not working in 12.2.

Hello Mak,

In the debug information I added deb dialer and deb isdn q931 was active. I made a new call and enabled the the following debug: deb dialer, deb dialer detailed, deb ip packet det, deb isdn q931, deb ppp nego, deb dialer packet.

The Cisco 1721 is now running IOS c1700-y-mz-122-4.YA2.bin.

I hope the information below helps you to solve this problem.

Re: binding with a dialer profile is not working in 12.2.

Hello,

Sorry for my late reaction but I was not in the office for a couple of weeks.

I have tried to installed 2 different IOS releases (12.2-8-T5 and 12.2-15-T2) but they didn't run because of memory shortest according to the messages. The latest 12.2(15)T2 started properly and everything is working. I thank you for your help.

Configs from both ends, showing the hostnames , username/password pair(s) for authentication the related BRI/dialer interface will be helpful too.
