boot problem 2600 router

I have a 2600 router that from a cold boot will boot up in rommon> mode. At the prompt I must type "i" to initialize and then the image is loaded and the router loads the config and everything works fine. In fact, when I do a "reload" the router boots up normally as well. The problem occurs only with a cold boot.

The config-register is set to 0x2102, so the problem is not with the register.

Any suggestions to fix this problem would be appreciated.

Re: boot problem 2600 router

Hello,

Is your router connected via a console-cable to a PC ??

I experienced the same problem, when i tried to configure the router via a console cable from my PC using Teraterm. I found out that i first have to start TeraTerm and then power-on the router.

When i first power-on the router and then start Teraterm on my PC the router started up from rommon. After powering-off and powering-on the router everything was normal.

Best regards

Re: boot problem 2600 router

Yes as a matter of fact my router is attached via a console-cable. I'll try to start the PC first and then power on the router - but still this is a very strange situation and one I don't like. Thanks for your reply

Re: boot problem 2600 router

Try giving "boot system flash:file name of ios image" and then "boot system flash" in global config mode.

Good luck.
