What happens, when I set the boot register to 0x2 on a Catalyst 6500?
I know the default is 0x102 but I ´m asked to set it to 0x2.
Well, I don´t wanna do it, without knowing what´s the matter with 0x2.
Thank you for helping me.

0x2 is for automatic boot. BTW, the value should be set to 0x2102

That link somehow doesn´t help and is rather confusing, sorry.
What is the default boot register setting for a Cat 4000, Cat5000 or Cat 6000 ?
Is there a difference between the hex values for a Router and a Switch ?
I know 0x2102 is default for a Router, but what about a Switch ? 0x2, 0x102 ??
I don´t want it to autoboot, I just want it to read the bootstring and boot.
thanx
Yves
