Breaking into 2504 Router

I am trying to get into my 2504 router. I do not know the SNMP write community (if configured) or the enable password. Additionally, the router does not accept the break sent by my Laptop, the break sequence I am using does work because I have tried it on my other router and it lets me into rommon mode.

I am getting all the usual stuff during the bootup when connected to the console port. However, just after initialising interfaces the session displays 'press Return to get started' but does not respond to keystrokes until you move the console cable from the console port to the aux port. Futhermore I am under the impression the aux port is not active during the boot process and as a result breaks cannot be sent to the router.

Please can somebody help me.

Re: Breaking into 2504 Router

1. Here is a list of break sequences based on the software you are using:

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/701/61.html

2. Console port mismatch with the laptop? Try changing speed/parity etc.

3. Try snmp password private. To change the password via snmp follow this link: http://www.groupstudy.com/archives/cisco/200101/msg03703.html

Don't think aux port will work.
