Bridging Question

Hi

I have a LAN on Token ring. I am in the process of upgrading to FastEthernet. I need to build 2 servers on the LAN but on Ethernet. I have spare 2513 routers and wish to bridge from the Token ring to ethernet so as to be able to use the same IP subnet that is already in use. Is this possible, if so a pointer to config would be very helpful. Many thanks, Ian

Re: Bridging Question

Hello Ian,

I think you have to configure Source Route Translational Bridging between the Ethernet (AUI) and Token Ring ports on your 2513.

Check out this document for a sample config:

Configuring Source Route Translational Bridging

Re: Bridging Question

Here is a sample config to bridge IP between TR and ethernet:

no ip routing

interface ethernet0

bridge-group 1

interface tokenring0

bridge-group 1

bridge 1 protocol ieee

bridge 1 bitswap-layer3-addresses
