Broadcast Suppression Feature

Hi gents,

I would like to know if this feature can help in LAN switching environment where stp loops occurs. In case of stp loop, the box may crash because of a too high utilization of the cpu. There is no feature where we can set a threshold for the cpu utilization so I was thinking about the broadcast suppress that acts at port level.

Stp loop are unicast frames and multicat frames (bpdu) looping for ever. It can be also broadcast frames but I am not sure.

Question: if I set a threshold of unicast/multicast/broadcast on each trunk of the switch, do I prevent the switch to crash in case of stp loop ?

Many thanks to all.
