broadcast suppression on catalyst 6000

Hi,

The port based broadcast suppression command on Catalyst 6000 CatOS provides a keyword " UNICAST".

C6506 (enable) set port broadcast 1/1 1% ?

multicast Enable/disable multicast suppression

unicast Enable/disable unicast suppression

<cr>

C6506 (enable) set port broadcast 1/1 1%

Can anyone knows if the keyword " unicast" is related to " unknow unicast " limiting the unicast flooding or It's related to all unicast traffic on that port ? ( the configuration guide and the command reference guide are not clear about that )

TIA

Regards

My guess is that it refers to all unicast traffic on that port. See the last example in the reference below.

Also note that Broadcast suppression is used to limit the broadcast traffic during a broadcast storm caused by a spanning tree loop. Please be careful when you use this feature for any other reason.
