Brother printer problems on Catalyst Express 500 GB switch

On our network we have a problem with Brother printers (HL-1470N and more types).

Since we have Cisco Catalyst Express 500 Gigabit switches with are servers attached the problem is there.

It prints garbage when I send "large" print jobs. A PDF of 74 KB (7 pages) does the trick but also an Excel sheet with 1 page text and lines.

When I add the printserver to the Cisco Catalyst 2950 switch the problems are solved.

But... we want the print/fileserver on the Gigabit Express 500 switch.

Is this a known problem or are we the first one who notice it?

What to do next?

Please provide the config. of the express 500 and ensure the speed / duplex matched between switch & printserver.

The problem is solved.

We are using Smart Ports for our servers. When we disable the SmartPort setting of the printserver the printing on Brother printers works good.

Xerox works in both ways.
