busy vty lines

I need X.25 connections between terminals and a server. So I took a 3640 Router and configured the vty lines 5 – 34 to be used as connections between the router and a server. I have also an ISDN PRI link on the Router.

The problem is, some vty lines between the router and the server doesn’t disconnect after the transaction is finish. This means, I have busy lines all the time.

I used the “exec-timeout 5 0” command on the vty lines and the global “service tcp-keepalives-in, service tcp-keepalives-out“ command.

I tried the IOS 12.21d and 12.020.

What should I do?

So you are doing protocol translation,

allowing PPP users to access the X25

server?

You might give the latest 12.2 (or 12.1) a try;

if you still have problems, please collect

"sh user", "sh caller", "sh translate",

"sh process | include Virtual", and

"sh stack #", where #! is the process

(PID) number from the output of "sh

process".
