We recently purchased a 7206VXR with dual fast ethernet and an enhanced OC3 MM ATM interface. The 2 fast ethernet interfaces are configured in a bridge group with a BVI containing the layer3 info. When the router is attached only to the LAN it responds normally (ping response under 10ms) but when the ATM is connected to the Telco switch the send and receive counters on the BVI rise to about 50%. Pinging the BVI results in varying response times of up to 500ms.
We have an existing 7206VXR (older model wih single fast ethernet on I/O plus FE PA) which this router will replace and it is running a BVI in the same config with no problem. I have tried various IOS versions (Enterprise 12.2(10b) and 12.2(12c)) and have also replaced the ATM PA - all of which has had no effect on the problem. Has anybody seen anything like this before?
