C2950G-12-EI with GBIC-LX/LH..CAB-GELX-625 needed?
trying to connect two C2950G-12-EI with GBIC-SX at a distance of 1000 feet (I was given the distance after the purchase) and the GB will not come up. Looks like it may be a distance issue, since I had them working in the lab before shipping to the location with a 6 foot patch cable. I am thinking to switch the GBIC from SX to LX/LH (WS-G5486). I was reading about the need for another cable in between (model CAB-GELX-625 mode-conditioning patch cord) when using multimode fiber. Has anyone used this patch cord before that can give some insight on this setup? Is there anyway to tweak the switch settings to get the SX GBICs to work at 1000 feet (or is the light just not getting to the other end). Thanks in advance.
