I have a C3550-24PWR and a C2950 switch that are not recognizing the WS-G5486 LX GBICs. I have a C3508 that is recognizing this GBIC. The C3550 and C2950 are running 12.1(13)EA1a. They do recognize a WS-G5484. I tried upgrading the C3550 to 12.1(14)EA1a, still the same issue. Any ideas would be appreciated.

When you say not reconizing it as in NO Link on the GBIC, or when it is inserted you show your ports and see Status as Other where LX-GBIC should be?

Corey,
Thanks for responding. What I found out was that the 3508 will recognize the GBIC whether or not there is a link made, just by inserting it into the slot and typing 'sh interface'. The 3550's and 2950's on the other hand need to have the link up and active before they show what is in that slot. It turned out I had a bad GBIC in the 3550, I would put it in the 3508 and would show it was a LX but none the less it was bad. So all this threw me off because I thought if the 3508 would see it inserted than the 3550 and 2950 should do the same.
Thanks,
Mark
