C4507R Old WS-X4515 will not come on line - any idea's?

Hi,

We have bought a new C4507R to replace our 4506.

We have taken our 2 Year Old WS-X4515 from the 4506 and put it in the 4507 but it doesn't work. No LED's come on and the console port is dead.

We purchased a new WS-X4515 with the 4507 chassis and that works fine. If I install the new X4515 in slot 1 and the old in slot 2 and do a show module it show a supervisor in slot 2 but not the type and the MAC address is unknown.

Does anyone know if there are problem with older revison WS-X4515's working in a 4507 Chassis?

WS-X4515 should have no problem working in a 4507R chassis. Could you please make sure that the SDRAM is securely sitting in its slot ? Sometimes , we have observed in the field that loose SDRAM ( could happen due to handling ) may render the supervisor dead. Let us know if that helps . If that does not help , you may have a dead sup ? Did this same sup work in another chassis ?

Try putting it in slot 1 without a redundant sup and see if it works .
