Currently have experienced the compatibility issue between the Intel 8255X based Chipset NICs and the Cisco WS-X6348-RJ-45 line card with Inline power as detailed in Cisco Bug CSCdt81026 :

The PC's involved have been IBM Thinkpads built in XIRCOM and Dell Optiplex Models connecting to C6509 Catos 6.3(7) with WS-X6348-RJ-45.
Setting the Cisco ports inline power status to off from the default auto has stopped the intermitant connectivity loss as detailed in the bug closure.
Has anybody got any further technical explanation as to the compatibility issue as I'm sure this question is going to be asked.
