C6K Port Index Assignment

Dear Network Professional Connection,

I would like to know the logic behind numbering physical and logical Ports e.g. AgPorts.

Example:

"CAT_OS> (enable) show spantree 1

...

Designated Root Port 2/1-4 (agPort 13/33) ..."

How will the numbering look like if I am using an 13 slot chassis?

Hi,

This is and interesting question and to prove that it seems to be OS/IOS dependant i got the following info. These are two identical chassis on terms of SLOTS.

What i have found out is that it takes the AgPORT as a complete module and slot. Will be digging deeper.

From IOS Box:

Port-channel1:

Age of the Port-channel = 41h:50m:20s

Logical slot/port = 14/1 Number of ports = 2

GC = 0x00010001 HotStandBy port = null

Port state = Port-channel Ag-Inuse

Now from CatOS Box: ( I found a hidden Command playing with this)

I initially only had a single channel on ports 1/1-2

Thanks for the reply and effort,

this means that the Index creation depends on the OS and that one logical module is created to represent the channels? Cool idea!

I read that because of the introduction of the 6513 chassis the number of

FEC/GEC will be reduced form 128 down to 63 (64). Maybe from two logical

modules down to one? How many ports can a module logical/physical handle?

I assume up to 48 (maybe old samba limit?)...

The only open question would be which (by now 2) schemata is actually used...?
