Calculating the cost of OSPF-enabled interface

I read in one of the book that Cisco uses a simple equation of 10% bandwidth to calculate the cost of OSPF enabled interface. Is it correct ?

Re: Calculating the cost of OSPF-enabled interface

OSPF COST = 100000 / bandwidth

This is the default setting. It worked great until Gig links came along.

i.e.

64k circuit = 1563

T1 = 65

100 MB = 1

1 Gig = 1

You can over-ride the default reference value, just remember you would need to do it Globaly over your whole network to have accurate costs reported.
