Campus Network Design ?

Hi,

I am planning to setup a campus network using the following:

3640 connected via FE to a Cat 4006 with a Sup3 in the core. Cat4006 with Sup2 in the Distribution level connect via fiber back to the 4006 in the core.

Is it okay to use the core Cat4006 with the Sup3 to do the switching between VLANS?

Or should I put a Sup III cards in all the distribution layer cat4006 switchs as well?

Thanks.

Dan.

I have seen alot of implementations where there is no core layer. Access layer will be a shassis fully ocupied with user ports and everything thing else connects to the core which does distibution functions.

What are you useing at the access layer ?

I see no problem with what you are doing, the cisco heirachial model guides routing at distribution so you could move you sup3s to distribution if you have enough of them? If you are financially constrained, the design you have is fine.
