Can 2620 with WIC-1T/2T V35 interface connect with link speed at 2304kbps?

A satellite provider will provide a DSU with 2304kbps clock rate to the router. Can it be work? Will the V35 cable length also be an issue?

Re: Can 2620 with WIC-1T/2T V35 interface connect with link spee

Here are some info:

- WIC-1T/2T supports speeds of up to a maximum port speed of 2.048 Mbps.

- EIA/TIA-449, V.35, and X.21 cables running at 1.544 Mbps is limited to

50 feet (or 15 meters). Using 2.048 Mbps, you might be limited to around

10 meters at most.

Hope this helps.

Re: Can 2620 with WIC-1T/2T V35 interface connect with link spee

Hello,

Thanks for your information!

From the spec., cisco state the followings:

=========================

The WIC-2T supports speeds of up to a maximum port speed of 2.048 Mbps.

Synchronous transfer rates of 2.048 Mbps (per port - maximum)

Supports one port at 8 Mbps when used in NM-1FE1R2W, NM-1FE2W, NM-2FE2W, or NM-2W or 2600 chassis WIC slots. All other WIC ports on that network module or 2600 chassis must not be used.

Supports two ports at 4 Mbps each when used in NM-1FE1R2W, NM-1FE2W, NM-2FE2W, or NM-2W or 2600 chassis WIC slots. All other WIC ports on that network module or 2600 chassis must not be used.

=================

It is really confusing. What do you think?

Re: Can 2620 with WIC-1T/2T V35 interface connect with link spee

It was not too difficult to find that the WIC-2T support 2048kbps maximum.

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/pcat/sewn__y2.htm

I was convinced that this was the same for the WIC-1T. Searching for a confirmation on this was not successful though. I am pretty certain that there was a spec on the WIC-1T stating that it supports 2Mb maximum. With all the reorganizing of the site this might have been lost somewhere along the track.

We need to find out where the limitation is, in the WIC or in the chassis hardware.

Re: Can 2620 with WIC-1T/2T V35 interface connect with link spee

Hi, I'm not sure but I think Cisco is referring to using Multilink PPP (MPPP).

You can combine the two serial ports on the WIC-2T to form a 4Mbps.

Or you can combine the 2 WIC-2Ts on the WAN slots of a NM-1FE1R2W

to for a single 8Mbps bundle. This might be the answer.

Re: Can 2620 with WIC-1T/2T V35 interface connect with link spee

I agree with that. They always refer to "aggregate speeds". In this case I think the question of mr chow is whether you can use the total available rate (more than 2Mb) on one WIC module when you are not using the full capacity of the router.
