Can a Cat3550 read DSCP

Can a CAT3550 running SMI read the QOS DSCP value in the layer three header? Or do you have to have a trunk link that can carry the 802.1p COS value?

This should be possible. You have the option to trust either CoS or dscp on a trusted boundary.

Check the following URL:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps646/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00801a6b55.html

With an SMI-switch you can configure anything that is explained under: Configuring Standard QoS
