Hello.
I need to cennect a cisco router to an external device. This connection must be based on G703, but also this connection should not exceed 1Mbps.
Can I configure the router to run G703 not on the whole E1 but on a certain channel-group (which will be constructed from timeslots 1-16) ?
If yes: 1) On which cisco routers can I do so ?
2) Do I have to use a specific card that supports this kind of configuration ?
3) Can someone provide a sample configuration for this ?
Thank you.
Boaz.

Am not sure what you mean by G.703 but a router with internal CSU DSUs supports 2 types of E1 ckts - framed (g.704) and unframed (g.703) - the unframed ckt is for the whole 2.048Mbps pipe cannot be channelized. If you need to channelize then need to use G.704 - the routers that support both these E1 ckts are 26/3600s and 72/7500s
for the 26/3600 - VWIC-1MFT-G703
for the 72/7500 - PA-4E1G-75 or 120

Thank you for the answer.
So, I will need to use G704 framed E1 ? Is this a character of the router interface or of the PSTN line (or both) ?
How do I configure this kind of connection ? What do I have to add to the following configuration :
controller E1 2/0
channel-group 1 timeslots 1-16
interface serial 2/0:1
ip address x.x.x.x y.y.y.y
Thank you.
