Can I have an ISDN fail a Frame Relay circuit on a different router.

I am running EIGRP in my network. I have a Frame Relay connection to a vendor via a remote location. I want to be able to set up ISDN dial backup from my location.

Is this possible to basically set dial backup to a remote frame location or do these line have to be on the same router.

Re: Can I have an ISDN fail a Frame Relay circuit on a different

Yes, there has to be two physical line on the same router

to be able to use the backup command.

The option opened to you is HSRP betweent he two routers

at you location . One router will be active while the other will

be in standby. The active router will be the one holding you

frame-relay circuit. HSRP will be setup to monitor this frame-relay link

and if it goes down the priority will be reduced

and hence the backup (stanby) takes over as active
