Can anyone confirm if it is OK to reuse (for ethernet) Vlan's 1002-1005?
Also why do CatOS switches not support config of VLANs 1006-1024.

no, you cannot use VLANs 1002-1005 for ethernet. these are FDDI & TokenRing default VLANs and cannot be deleted or used for ethernet.
also, CatOS does support vlans 1006-1024. these are part of the 'extended VLAN range' and need to be manually configured on switches. VTP will not propagate VLANs in the 'extended VLAN range'.
reserved VLANs: 0 & 4095
VLAN 1: default vlan; cannot be deleted; can be used
VLAN 2-1001: ethernet VLANs; can be used
VLAN 1002-1005: FDDI & TokenRing VLANs. cannot be deleted
extended VLANs: 1006-4094: ethernet VLANs only

1002-1005 cannot be used for ethernet. They are ment for FDDI and Token Ring. For more info, try this link:
Hope this helps.
