Can Iconnect 2 3550-12G switches using GB interfaces configured for L3 ?

Can I connect two 3550-12G switches (routers in my scenario) using GigabitEthernet interfaces configured for L3 operation ("no switchport" command). This what I want achieve ist in fact direct router to router connection? Will inerface GE with "no switchport" command acts like normal router port and can I connect it directly to the same port (router port) on another 3550-12G ?

Thanks for any suggestions ?

Yes you can configure layer 3 routed interfaces on your 3550 EMI switches

Yes, use a twisted Ethernet cable, and make sure both switch ports are in the same subnet (in other words, normal routing requirements).

Have you also considered the use of VLANs?
