Can port errors on one port affect another ports performance?

We have a Cat6000 with a 6348-RJ-45 card. There is a firewall attached to port 3/8 and a server attached to port 3/7. We noticed that at exactly the same time that the link from port 3/8 to the firewall went down for 3 seconds that we had alerts on HP openview that there were high errors and CRC's on port 3/7.

I was wondering if the high errors on port 3/7 could have caused port 3/8 to go down for a while?

If these ports are in the same vlan it could have an affect.

In our infrastructure, exspecially with 6348 cards we have noticed "cluster of ports" (for example port 3/1-6 were affected while 3/7-12 would be fine). Something with the group of ports wired the "together".
