Can't connect to www.cisco.com:80 Invalid Argument

I am using Cisco works 2000 and I am able to connect to Management Connection, and query a TAC case. However, when I try to Check Contract Status under Essentials, Contract Connection or, more importantly, Add Images to the Software Management Library under Essentials, I get an error message saying that www.cisco.com:80 cannot be contacted. I can connect to www.cisco.com and I can connect to http://cisco.com:80

Can anyone tell me where that address is coming from or how I can change/redirect it?

When I click on the link for www.cisco.com:80, I can get to the web site, however when I type in my browser, it cannot be found.

Are you using a Proxy to connect to the Internet?. If so, then you need to make sure that you've setup the proxy correctly both in RME and in your web browser.

No, I am not going through a proxy

Does it happen only while accessing CW2K from remote clients or from the server itself too?. Does both IE and Netscape give the same error?

Yes, the result is the same on both the CW2k server and on remote clients. The only thing that I can tell that is different is that when cutting and pasting the url into Netscape (4.78) is that Netscape will take me to Cisco's website, but when accessing it through Cisco Works, RME, I still get "Internal Error : Can't connect to www.cisco.com:80 (Invalid argument)"

BTW, I am using IE ver 6.0

Same result with IE 5.5?

Yes, same with IE 5.5 sp2. Also the same on different workstations

Then you may want to try using any Sniffer Pro type of application to see exactly why and where it's failing. You can use Ethereal which is a free ware and can get it from http://www.ethereal.com
