When I try to format a flash card inserted in to sup-slot0: on a native IOS (Cisco 6509) I get the following error:
Hammond_Core_6509_1#format sup-slot0:
Format operation may take a while. Continue? [confirm]
Format operation will destroy all data in "sup-slot0:". Continue? [confirm]
Enter volume ID (up to 64 chars)[default slot0]:
%Error formatting slot0 (Can not find flash algorithm)
Any Ideas?

What kind of flash card is it? Are you able to read it with "dir slot0:". Another thing is, you are running native, so from this perspective there is really just "slot0:". Have to tried formatting "slot0:?

It is in slot0: from what syslog says. It is an ATA Flash pc card. We are using a SUP2 module so it passes all of the requirements. When I do a dir slot0: I get the following output...
hostname#dir slot0:
%Error opening slot0:/ (Device not ready)
There is no write protect on this card either...

Nevermind... even though syslog says it is in slot0: with this type of card (ATA) you access it through Disk0:

Hi,
I have similiar problem with Flash card. Check what maximum MB flash cards you can put into. Also check your firmware version on supervisor. I had old firmare 6.3 and couldn;t fit the 64 Mb flash card on sup2. I upgreaded it to 8.1 and work just fine.
Hope that helped you,
