Can't update Catalyst 1900 firmware

I tried to update my catalyst 1900(WS-C1912) with image cat1900A.9.00.04.bin, but cat1900 just cancel the XMODEM uploading process(no error message). Now my old image(Ver 5.X) had been erased, can I use this new firmware or where can I download the ver 5.x old firmware?

Any help is welcome.

Re: Can't update Catalyst 1900 firmware

Make sure that you followed the following steps while doing an XMODEM upload.

1 Copy the switch firmware file to the system running the XMODEM application.

2 Select option 'U' from the Firmware Configuration menu to initiate the XMODEM download.

3 When the first XMODEM request appears, use the appropriate command to start the transfer from the application supporting XMODEM transfer.

4 When the transfer is completed, the switch resets automatically and executes the newly downloaded firmware.

A word of caution is that during the transfer of the upgrade file, the switch might not respond to commands for as long as 1 minute.

This is normal and correct. If you interrupt the transfer by turning the switch off and on, the firmware could be corrupted.

If this happens, follow the procedure described in the following document:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps574/products_installation_and_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00800d9cef.html#12529

If your new firmware is not corrupted, you can use the same.
