My understanding is that the "Load" factor displayed with the "show interface" command is based on an average value during a floating window time period, which I believe is 5 minutes. I think this window period can be shorten to a much lower value, such as 30 seconds, to give a more accurate indication of the current load on an interface but I cannot remember what command is used to do this, if any. I would appreciate any help someone can provide on doing this.
