Hi

I am trying to connect a remote intranet server which is located in HQ but the connection fails. When i ping the remote server from my branch office i can ping and also tracert can reach properly .But when i try to browse the server (HTTP) fails.Hq and branch office connected via ip/vpn.

even my ftp fails to connect to the remote server .

Re: cannot able to connect to remote intranet server

You are able to ping, so IP routing is working to some extent.

Seems like you are hitting a firewall that does not allow incoming tcp traffic. This is the default behaviour for a firewall. On a PIX, you can enble ICMP by using a conduit-statement. This is appearently configured.

You could also run into trouble because the firewall runs PAT and there are no static translations defined.

Try changing the access-lists that specifies your VPN-traffic to be excluded from NAT/PAT and enable incoming traffic from the VPN.

Re: cannot able to connect to remote intranet server

Hi Prem,

Can you provide more info on the kind of VPN set you have. What is the VPN Server that you are using, is it a Cisco Router, Pix, or VPN3000. Are you by any chance running IPSec/GRE.
