cannot connect to console port

Hi

I have a 3660 router, I can't connect to its console port, also I don't know the current IP configuration

when I connect to its console it may give me no response and sometimes rubbish, someone told me that console settings may be changes

can any one tell me how to know the correct settings

Thanx in advance

Re: cannot connect to console port

It is usually 9600 bps, 8 data, 1 stop, no parity. If that doesn't work just keep trying different speeds until you hit it. You can always try the aux port as well.

Re: cannot connect to console port

Some routers use 8-N-2 for the console settings, and also ake sure you're using a rollover cable not a straight or crossover. Rollover pinout is 1-8,2-7 etc. etc.
