Cannot set the hostname on our new 4006 chassis

I have tried using "set name" and set hostname" commands and the Switch does not know these...

I know this is something simple.. I have searched thru the documentation for the 4006 on the Web...nothing seems to come back relevant to setting a hostname on my 4006. Please help. what command do I use to set the hostname on a 4006??Software version 7.1.2

Use the "set prompt" command

Console (enable) set prompt CAT4006

CAT4006 (enable)

set system name CAT4006 should do it on the cat ios

"set system name" will work **ONLY** if you have not used the "set prompt" command before. CAT400x is a little different compared to cat5k and 6k

cat4006 (enable) set prompt 4006

4006 (enable) set system name cat4006

System name set.

4006 (enable) set system name Cisco

System name set.
