I have a 3550 as my core with several 2900's and have a couple of VLAN's setup. When I am on my default VLAN, response time is great. Ping's are 1ms and I copy a 50MB file in about 10 seconds. When I switch the VLAN on that port, responses to ping's aren't noticably longer (maybe 1ms longer), but when I copy the same 50MB file it takes about 2 minutes. The problem is consistent no matter which switch I use.
Are there any diags to help troubleshoot something like this? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Check the interface counters for errors. Make sure duplexing is setup correctly. How about a traceroute to make sure that it's taking the best path. After that you might have to do some packet investigation with a sniffer.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
