Hi,
I have the need for some 1000BASE-T port on one of our CAT 55509.
The CAT is equipped with two WS-X5410 9 port cards.
In the documentation for the new GBIC WS-G5483 I can see nothing related to the CAT 5500 series of switches. When inserting the GBIC into one slot the CAT recognises it! And traffic to the switch connected works!
Can I bee sure that this will continue to work after upgrading software and so on?
CAT software:5.5(3)
WS-X5410 software:5.4(1)
Regards

I tried it in the lab and see it appears to work fine. I have contacted our Development folks to get their input on if it's officially supported. Will update once I hear back from them
Thanks

Got an update. Copper GBICs is not supported on a CAT5xxx. It has not been dev-tested on this platform
